Bromeliad Aechmea ‘Del Mar’

Aechmea 'Del Mar', a cultivar developed by Bullis, shares similarities with the Blue Tango variety. However, 'Del Mar' is smaller in size compared to Blue Tango and displays a distinct flower structure. The foliage of this cultivar is lush green, while the inflorescence bears numerous berry-like flowers in vibrant cobalt blue and hot pink shades. With its eye-catching floral display, Aechmea 'Del Mar' is well-suited for both landscaping and interiorscape settings.

Del Mar is best known for its beautiful blooms of a pink spike and purple bracts (petal-like leaves) that can last for as long as a year. 'Del Mar' grows best in fast draining soil or sand and its cup kept full during hot weather. It likes strong but filtered light and good air circulation. Its rosette can grow up to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide and has medium green leaves that are leathery to the touch, but have sharp spikes along their edges.
